Holly’s Story The Gentle Giant With a Healing Heart
Holly wasn’t always a therapy dog, but she has always had a gift.
From the moment she was born, this Great Pyrenees–Anatolian Shepherd mix carried herself with a calm, steady presence — the kind that makes people breathe a little easier just by being near her. Even as a fluffy pup, she seemed to understand when someone needed a soft nudge, a warm lean, or one of her famous full‑body hugs.
By the time Holly turned two, it was clear she had a calling. She began her journey as a therapy dog, and for the past four years she has devoted her days to comforting individuals and families across Oklahoma City. Now six years old, she has grown into a true gentle giant — big in size, bigger in heart, and beloved everywhere she goes.
You might catch her strolling through Will Rogers International Airport, her tail swaying like a fluffy metronome as she eases the nerves of anxious travelers. Or you may see her padding down the halls of Integris Mental Health Center, where she visits “her kids,” offering quiet companionship and a safe place to rest a hand.
At the Oklahoma City Metro Library on NW 122nd, children light up the moment Holly walks in. Some read to her, some hug her, and some simply sit beside her, soaking in her calm.
But Holly’s comfort crew doesn’t stop there. She has proudly shared her gentle spirit at events for:
- Girl Scouts of Oklahoma
- Children with Autism and sensory‑friendly programs
- OKC Animal Coalition
- Make‑A‑Wish Foundation
- Gary Sinise Foundation, honoring families of fallen military members and first responders
Everywhere she goes, Holly brings the same message: you matter, and you’re not alone.
And if you’re lucky enough to meet her, you’ll understand why people remember her long after she leaves. Holly gives the best hugs — the kind that wrap around you like a blanket of comfort, kindness, and unconditional love.
