We took Holly to the hospital today for the ice cream social, and she walked in like she had personally organized the entire event. If she could talk, she would’ve said, “Welcome, everyone. Please form an orderly line for pets and sprinkles.”
A Little Paw-Mail from Holly!

I’ve been to several events with the Jedi group, and let me tell you — these humans are some of my absolute favorites. They show up in their epic costumes looking ready to save the galaxy, but the second I trot in, they act like I’m the real celebrity. Every time, they greet me like I’m a tiny furry Jedi Master arriving to check on my Padawans and make sure no one has turned to the Dark Side.
They bring mountains of treats, give the best pets, and hype me up like I’m the chosen one. I don’t fully understand the Force — I’m pretty sure it’s just fancy human magic — but whatever it is, it definitely works on me. I feel like part of their squad every single time.

Today was ice cream party day at the hospital, thanks to JediOKC, and let me tell you… they brought every topping known to mankind. And several toppings that absolutely should never be within a five‑mile radius of ice cream. I’m talking crickets, larva, sardines — toppings that make you question humanity, the laws of nature, and whether someone lost a bet. They also had the usual chaos: gummy worms, pretzels, cereal, marshmallows, and something that looked suspiciously like crushed potato chips.
The kids were living their best lives, building ice cream bowls that looked like science experiments. I can only imagine what the parents think when their children proudly announce they ate bugs on top of their ice cream. Probably a mix of horror, confusion, and “Well… at least they got protein?”

They even gave me my very own pup‑cup bowl — two scoops of vanilla ice cream and a glorious mountain of whipped cream. I ate it like a true Jedi warrior celebrating a hard‑won victory. Honestly, if the Jedi ever need a dog with a wagging lightsaber tail and elite dessert‑eating skills, I’m already part of the team. I’ve basically completed my Jedi training… the Force is strong, but the ice cream is stronger.

I stopped by to see one of my favorite kids — the one who used to be absolutely terrified of me. Back in the day, he’d stand at the very back of the room with a desk between us, sometimes even up on a chair like I was a fire‑breathing dragon instead of a fluffy white dog who can’t even catch a tennis ball half the time.
But today? Oh, today was AMAZING.
He came right over to me like we’d been best friends forever. He pet me, talked to me, leaned on me… and then my human told him, “Look, I’m not even holding her leash.”
His eyes got HUGE — like cartoon‑character huge — as if he suddenly realized he was petting a completely unleashed creature. But he didn’t stop. He kept petting me, kept smiling, kept trusting me.
And then he did something that made my tail wag so hard I almost achieved liftoff: he let me eat treats right out of his hand.
For a kid who once needed a desk, a chair, and maximum distance between us, that’s basically Jedi‑level bravery. I’m so proud of him. He’s come a long way… and now?
I’m pretty sure I’m his new best friend!

Then we visited a little girl who was going home today. Wonderful news — but she was sad because she wouldn’t get to see me anymore. She has all of my trading cards and stickers, but she said it’s not the same as hugging me. My heart broke a little.
I told her she could check my website — and she looked at me like I had just explained rocket science, taxes, and how microwaves work all at once. Humans keep saying “website” like I’m supposed to know what that is. I don’t. I just know it’s where my schedule magically appears even though I’ve never typed a single thing in my life.
I told her she could see where I visit outside the hospital, and if she ever needed me, she could email me. (Again… no idea what an email is. I assume it’s like sending treats through the air? My human handles all that stuff.)
But what I meant was: “Don’t worry. You will absolutely get your Holly hugs again.”
Because once you’re one of my kids, you’re always one of my kids.
I also told her my humans are working on a Holly coloring book, and that I’d send her pages so she can color me anytime she wants. When she heard that, she lit up like someone had just handed her a puppy, a unicorn, and a lifetime supply of sprinkles and glitter. Her whole face went whoosh! — pure joy.
Honestly, I didn’t know coloring pages were that powerful, but apparently I’m about to become a professional coloring‑book model. I hope she uses lots of yellow for my fur. It really brings out my eyes.
As we made our rounds, I met new faces, familiar faces, and a couple of my returning kids who practically sprinted to me like I was giving out free puppies. They were thrilled to get my newest trading card — honestly, I think I’m up to celebrity status now. One boy even put his sticker on his Bible. I guess I saved him… spiritually, emotionally, or maybe just from being bored during quiet time. Either way, I’ll take it.
By the time we left, I was tired in that “I did something important today” way — the kind of tired you get from handing out hugs, saving the day, and being everyone’s emotional support sunshine marshmallow. When we got home, I flopped on the floor like a melted marshmallow and just thought about my kids — because that’s what they are. My kids. I love every single one of them, and they love me right back with those big smiles, tight hugs, and “Holly’s here!!” squeals that make my tail start wagging before my brain even catches up. Being their dog is the best job in the world.
I told them I’d be back in two weeks, and you should’ve seen their faces. They acted like I’d just announced a world tour. Honestly, I kind of did. I’m basically the Beyoncé of hospital visits. Two weeks feels like forever to them, but don’t worry — I’ll be back wagging my tail, handing out hugs, and checking on my kids like the responsible sunshine marshmallow I am.
And judging by their faces, they’ll be counting the days.
