Paws & Case Briefs: Therapy Dogs Help OCU Law Survive Midterms

OCU reached out again asking if Holly could come help the students survive midterms — which honestly tells you everything you need to know about law school. At this point, Holly is basically their unofficial emotional‑support professor. And of course, her best little friend Darbie came too, trotting in like Holly’s tiny hype‑woman. The students saw those two walk through the door and immediately forgot all about constitutional law, civil procedure, and whatever else was melting their brains. Holly provided the calm, Darbie provided the sparkle, and together they restored the will to live in at least three dozen future attorneys.

A Little Paw-Mail from Holly!

I headed to OCU Law School today to help the students survive midterms — because apparently nothing calms future lawyers like a giant fluffy dog and her tiny sidekick. I brought my best little friend Darbie, the Yorkie, who is basically my miniature partner‑in‑comfort. We do a lot of events together, and she’s one of my best buds. She may be small, but she has the confidence of a Great Dane.

We all met in a conference room, but honestly, Darbie and I took over the show in about three seconds. The students started ooing and awing like we were celebrity guest speakers. They thought it was adorable that we’re such good friends — big dog, tiny dog, both extremely professional, both extremely cute. It’s a whole vibe.

My human handed out so many trading cards and stickers that he finally just gave a whole stack to our contact so she could distribute them to the students who couldn’t attend. We must have seen a couple hundred students — just Darbie and me! Two dogs, one mission: reduce midterm stress.

I kept looking out the window in case any students missed the flyer and needed help finding us. My human said I looked like I was searching for a good defense attorney to get me out. The students laughed — probably because they are defense attorneys in training.

Before we left, my human told me that OCU will be posting our visit on Instagram. I nodded like I understood, but honestly… I have no idea what Instagram is. Is it a snack? A type of squirrel? A new kind of treat? No clue. My human is working on reconnecting my Facebook account instead. I haven’t posted there in a long time — not since my humans were fostering Freckles and Bashful.

I miss those pups. I’m sure they’re all grown up now, probably living their best lives and bragging about the giant fluffy dog who used to babysit them. Maybe they’ve mastered Instagram by now — I still think it’s some kind of treat app. Anyway, watch for me making my grand comeback to Facebook soon. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do… and probably a few selfies to post.

On the way home, I made sure to let all the students know to study hard and do well on their exams. I take my academic encouragement duties very seriously. Darbie does too, but she delivers her messages in tiny squeaks.
